the power to save lives:

One year after the horrifying shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High in Parkland, Florida, our nation's leaders have done nothing to demonstrate that they appreciate the urgency this national gun violence crisis demands.

Headline-generating shootings.

Thoughts and prayers offered. Funerals arranged. Families grieve.

Then...nothing but silence. The lack of meaningful action is predictable now...but ever more maddening.

One year after Parkland, we must start by passing laws that close background check loopholes, prevent domestic abusers from owning firearms, and get assault weapons off the streets.

Here in Oregon, I'm going to do my part and work to champion commonsense gun safety reforms. On the federal level, I will continue to push Congress to protect Americans from senseless gun violence.

Newly-elected leaders across America have the power to help save lives. I urge them to use it.

Sign the petition: demand Congress pass common-sense gun safety laws, including universal background checks.

Thank you for standing with me,

Ellen
