We've come a long way in 50 years!

Last weekend, I had the honor of marching through the Portland Pride parade with some of my colleagues and dear friends. We had a wonderful time!

This month, not only are we celebrating Pride, but we're also celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. 50 years ago, being closeted, shamed, and forced into conversion therapy was the norm. Today, same-sex marriage is a protected right for our LGBTQIA+ community members. But we still have a long way to go before equal protection under the law is a battle of Attorneys General of the past.

As Donald Trump's administration continues to roll back the already-limited protections and introducing new harmful policies that further marginalize vulnerable populations, Oregon is taking the lead to fight back.

In Oregon, LGBTQIA+ individuals are protected. And celebrated. I'm proud to stand with our LGBTQIA+ communities – to continue fighting for the rights of all individuals.

Happy Pride Month,

Ellen
