Take a stand against Trump's inhumane policies

Earlier this year, I joined my Democratic Attorneys General colleagues in walking across the border and back at Tijuana, Mexico, to see firsthand the real challenges occurring there.

The people I saw there were lined up at tents to "register" — only to wait in dangerous shelters to have their number called (weeks or months later) for the privilege of crossing the border — only to be detained on the other side in the horrid conditions we have heard so much about.

it was especially heartbreaking to see families with children, knowing there was still a realistic chance their children would be separated from them after coming into the United States. This is not right!

These are people fleeing terror, seeking legal asylum and a better life for their families — not criminals.

This crisis, created for political gain by Donald Trump and his administration, must not feel distant. We must always know that it’s real for those suffering it, and never stop working for real solutions – not just ones that demonize asylum-seekers.

One thing we can all do right now? Support incredible people and organizations who are at the border every day, helping those Donald Trump has dehumanized.

One such group? Al Otro Lado. I saw their amazing efforts helping asylum seekers at the border firsthand. They provide legal services and support to deportees, migrants, and refugees.

Join me: learn more about their work and support their critical efforts in these tough times.

Together, we can make a difference. Together, we can take a stand against Trump’s inhumane policies.
